The head of the Foreign Policy of the European Union Kaja Kallas said on Monday that the EU will work on the 19th Pack of Sanctions Against Russia. She did not immediately provide further details, TASR reports on the basis of Reuters and DPA reports.

“If Russia does not agree with the complete and unconditional ceasefire, we should not even discuss any concessions,” Kallas said in a statement.

Priority issues of the ceasefire

“The order of steps is important. First, an unconditional ceasefire with an effective monitoring system and strong security guarantees,” she continued.

Ukraine, according to Kallas, informed EU foreign ministers about the situation on the battlefield. “We fully support the end of this war in a way that will not leave Russia open the rear door to re -enter and restore aggression,” she stressed.

Sanctions and the next EU steps

Kallas announced the introduction of further sanctions against Russia even earlier on Monday during the extraordinary meeting of heads of EU Member States’ diplomacy in the form of video conference. The main theme was the war in Ukraine and the discussion on the possibilities of its end in connection with the upcoming Friday meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the White House chief Donald Trump in Alaska.
