This Monday (11), Embraer () celebrates the 30 years of the first flight of a jet airplane produced in Brazil. The date symbolizes the beginning of an important era for the company and the national aviation industry.
The ERJ-145 made its inaugural flight on August 11, 1995, starting from São José dos Campos Airport, in the Paraíba Valley, after years of study and tests with different configurations. The final project adopted engines positioned on the back of the fuselage, a solution that became characteristic of the model.

The flight occurred a year after the privatization of Embraer, when the company obtained capital to boost the ERJ (Embraer Regional Jets) project, with the ERJ-135 and ERJ-140 versions, as well as the Legacy and Military executive variants, such as AEW & C, which has air radar in the fuselage. Initially, the model was called EMB 145.

With three decades of history, the ERJ-145 has accumulated more than 26 million hours of flight, operated by 36 airlines in 26 countries. About 1,240 units of the ERJ line were manufactured, consolidating their domain in the regional jet market. This position was reinforced by the success of E-Jets (E170/175/190/195) and, more recently, by the new generation E2.

Designed to carry between 37 and 50 passengers, these small jets have become the favorite choice of regional companies in the United States, Europe and China. Currently, about 40% of manufactured units remain in commercial operation.
