Aol, one of the pioneers who took millions of Americans to the 1990s and early 2000s, announced that he will end his dial -up internet service next month.
The decision was communicated in a notice published on the company’s website, which said it routinely evaluated its products and decided to discontinue the service from September 30, ending more than three decades of operation.
Despite the advancement of broadband and wireless internet connections, which became predominant, AOL kept its service downed, which connects users via fixed telephone line.

US Census data of 2023 indicates that about 160,000 people still use this form of internet access, although in a smaller and smaller number.

A company spokesman stressed that the end of the Dial Service will not affect the other products and services offered to subscribers.
