At least 68 people remain missing a week after that reached a village near the Na Parte Da reported the authorities on Tuesday (12). In addition, four more people were reported as dead, which raises the balance of the tragedy from August 5 to more than 70 dead. Videos released by residents showed a stream of muddy water dragging homes.

Authorities reported that they are looking for bodies between the wreckage of Dharali’s tourist town in the state of Uttarakhand. Gambhir Singh Chauhan of the National Disaster Response Force said the sniffer dogs identified several points where the bodies could be, but “when digging, water comes out.” Chauhan said emergency teams use radars to assist in search.

An initial balance mentioned 100 missing people. The local government updated the numbers to 68 missing, including 44 Indians and 22 Nepalese. Fatal floods and landslides are common during the monsoon season, from June to September, but experts say climate change increase their frequency and severity.
