The governor of, (), sent on Tuesday (12) a letter to the president of, in which he criticizes the government (PT) and defends the opening of dialogue with the US government.

In the letter, Ibaneis says he believes that the perception announced by Trump “does not reflect the reality of the Brazilian capital”. “It is wrong information, possibly resulting from the current absence of more consistent dialogue between Brazil and the United States of America,” he adds.
The governor states that Brazil has a federative model and that the states and the Federal District have autonomy to conduct their own public security policy.
“The Government of the Federal District, conducted by me, is from the center-right, as opposed to the current Federal Government, of the Left. Therefore, the public safety of the capital of Brazil focuses on concrete results, free of ideological biases,” he says.
Ibaneis says that the vision of Brasilia managers in public security is “law and order”, with a firm combat with the crime associated with “social policies of real reach”.
To reinforce opposition to the Lula administration, the governor also said that he believes in the dialogue and strength of diplomatic relations “unlike the current federal government.”
“I have reiterated, stated that the federal government must abandon ideological disputes and adopt a pragmatic stance in international relations, opening productive negotiation channels with the United States of America,” says Ibaneis.
He also states that he argues that geopolitical and commercial interests must be “above political party differences.”
“Recently, I even promoted a meeting with governors from several Brazilian states, with the objective of defending the opening of direct dialogue with the US government. During the meeting, the need to reduce tension between the two countries and that there is a coordinated performance with the National Congress, aiming to minimize damage to the national economy,” concludes the governor.
Ibaneis has been trying to position itself nationally as opposed to the Lula administration. He negotiates an alliance with former President () and PL President Valdemar Costa Neto to be one of the Senate candidates of the Bolsonarist plate in 2026.
