Robert Lewandowski wants to wear the Polish national team shirt again. The information was confirmed on Tuesday (12) by coach Jan Urban, who took over in July after Michal Probierz’s departure.

He had announced his departure from the national team after one, who decided to withdraw the captain’s clamp from the biggest scorer in the history of the national team-85 goals in 158 matches-and hand it over to Inter Milan Piotr Zielinski.

Urban revealed that he talked by telephone with Lewandowski to probe a possible return.

“I asked if he wanted to go back. He said yes. So we took a step ahead.”told the coach to the private broadcaster RMF FM.

Asked about the possibility of returning the clamp to shirt 9, the coach said the subject is still under discussion. “I want to talk not only with Robert, but also with Piotr Zielinski and the players council members. The decision will be mine, but I want to hear what they think,” he explained.

Poland currently occupies third place in the qualifying group for A, behind Finland and the Netherlands. The team faces the Netherlands away from home on September 4 and, three days later, receives Finland.

Lewandowski, 36, is seen as a key piece for the Polish chances of reaching next year’s tournament.
