The claims presented by the mayor and the indigenous people are related to the change in the territorial limits of the municipalities, in addition to the situation of the Icurian extension, which benefits about 4 to 5,000 people who reside in the region and urgently need maintenance. This is due to the difficulties faced to drain production and health care.

The deputies held the meeting under the Commission of Indigenous Affairs, chaired by Deputy Tanizio Sá.

“It was a very profitable meeting. They have several claims, including issues about territorial limits within the reserve, which need review. People are served by Assis Brasil, but technically, sometimes they are in another municipality, such as Sena Madureira or Brasileia. They want a review of these boundaries and, especially, the maintenance of the Icurian extension, which is not receiving proper attention or by Funai, none of the bodies, none of the bodies that could help, ”said Long.

Tanizio assured that the claims made by the indigenous and extractivists must be met, as they are humanitarian.

“We cannot allow these groups to suffer this way because of issues that the public power can and should resolve. What may be this house to do, we will do it for sure. It is our goal from this meeting,” he concluded.
