The president stated that members of his office will continue the discussions with Lip-BO Tan in the coming days, after meeting with the CEO of the White House on Monday.
“The meeting was very interesting,” Trump said in a social media post. “His success and rise are an incredible story. Mr. Tan and the members of my office will spend time together and introduce me suggestions for next week.” Intel did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Tan’s meeting with Trump.
The warm statements represent a complete reversal compared to just four days earlier, when Trump called for Tan’s resignation and accused him of having conflicts of interest.

Last week, Trump wrote in a social Truth post that Tan should leave the position of chip manufacturer’s head, describing him as “highly conflicting.”
The post came after Republican Senator Tom Cotton asking Intel’s chairman to answer questions about Tan’s ties with China, including investments in Chinese semiconductor companies and others with military connections.

Tan said he has full support from the company’s board and that he contacted the White House to clarify what he called “misinformation” about his history.
Chip manufacturer shares rose more than 2% in the negotiations extended after Trump’s post on Monday. The shares had fallen 3.1% on August 7, the day of the president’s initial statements.
