The former United States Vice President said on Tuesday (12) that relations between Brazil and the US should not be seen “by or, their children or any of their supporters” in a seminar in which he also apologized for the republican’s behavior.
Gore participated in an event at the headquarters of (National Bank for Economic and Social Development), in Rio de Janeiro, on climate, sustainability and democracy.
In the seminar, Gore stated that USA and Brazil “have a very long and wonderful, mutually beneficial relationship that will continue, what happens.”
“We have three more and five months, four and a half months, if I’m counting correctly, and I don’t want to minimize the risks of all kinds of this period,” said the former vice.
“And I feel, you know, it is tradition in my country that a citizen does not criticize his own president when he is in a foreign country. I suppose that it is also inappropriate for my part to apologize. I apologize for him, but I apologize because these are dangerous times, not just in the United States.”
“We see a wave of neo -authoritarianism in many parts of the world,” he added, arguing that “the best answer is to advance in the positive agenda.”
The president of BNDES, argued that Brazil has sought diplomatic efforts to reverse the 50% tariff imposed by the Donald Trump government to Brazilian products.
He also defended Pix. “It is a technological innovation and this cannot be questioned. Countries have to improve and improve their working methods, their forms of construction,” he said.
