Bolsonaro, Braga Netto and other defendants have final allegations to the STF

The defenses of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), General Walter Braga Netto, former Minister Anderson Torres and other defendants in core 1 of the action investigating the coup plan must submit the final allegations by Wednesday (13) to the Supreme Court (STF).

The procedural stage is the last before the rapporteur, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, to complete his report and vote to make the case available for judgment in the first class of the Supreme Court.

Now they must submit final allegations to the Supreme Court:

  • Jair Bolsonaro, former president;
  • Walter Braga Netto, former Minister of Defense and the Civil House in the Government of Bolsonaro, candidate for vice president in 2022;
  • Alexandre Ramagem, Federal Deputy and former President of Abin (Brazilian Intelligence Agency);
  • Almir Garnier, squador admiral who commanded the navy in the Bolsonaro government;
  • Anderson Torres, former Justice Minister in the Bolsonaro government;
  • Augusto Heleno, former GSI (Institutional Security Office) Minister of the Bolsonaro government;
  • Paulo Sérgio Nogueira, General and former Minister of Defense of Bolsonaro.

According to the complaint of the PGR, which made the members of the defendant core, this group was the main in the articulation and formulation of the coup plan.

It is expected that the first class of the Supreme Court will begin to judge the case in September, deciding to acquit or convict those involved.

PGR FINAL ALLEGATIONS

The Attorney General’s Office filed the final allegations on July 14 and called for the conviction of Bolsonaro and seven other defendants for organizing an attempted coup.

In the document, the Attorney General, Paulo Gonet, reinforced the central role played by Bolsonaro in an attempt to break democratic, in acts that began in 2021 and culminated in attacks on the headquarters of the three powers on January 8, 2023.

According to Gonet, since the receipt of the complaint by the first class of the Supreme Court and, consequently, the opening of the criminal action, a series of evidence was taken to justify the conviction. He, however, did not estimate the calculation of the penalties.

Final allegations of Mauro Cid

The defense of Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid present his statement of final allegations on July 29. The lawyers of the military, who have an award -winning plea agreement, reiterated the treatment of the treaty and asked for acquittal in the process.

According to the defense, the PGR was “unfair” for abandoning “the whistleblower” after using all the information shared by him.
