The Turkish president had a telephone conversation with the Ukrainian President, in view of the meeting of Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15, where the issue of war will be raised between the US and Russia.
According to a statement from the Turkish Presidency’s Communication Directorate, Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey is ready to host a meeting at the leaders’ level and that he believes that setting up working groups in the areas of military, humanitarian and political cooperation will pave the way for one.
President Erdogan also pointed out that he considers the progress achieved in direct talks between Ukraine and Russia’s delegations in Constantinople and expressed hope that in the following rounds significant results would be achieved for a truce agreement.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey continues to support Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
According to the Turkish Presidency’s contact address, the telephone communication between the two presidents was held at the request of Zelenski.
