Zelenski warns the US: Ukraine experience must be used so as not to fall into deception by Russia
President Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, has launched an indirect message to the USA before the summit next Friday between President Donald Trump and the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, in which he urges to take into account the experience of kyiv and his European partners not to fall into the deception of part of Russia.
“The experience of Ukraine and our partners must be used to prevent the deception from Russia. Right now there is no sign that the Russians are preparing to end war,” he said in X, although, in theory, the meeting between Putin and Trump should deal with the roads to end the conflict. “The hostilities continue. They are preparing offensive operations,” the message continued, published shortly before, as planned, Zelenski arrives in Berlin to meet with the German chancellor, Friedrich Merz, and participate in virtual contacts with European and NATO leaders, as well as with Trump, organized by the German head of government.
The Ukrainian leader recalled that in recent days he has maintained contacts and consultations with more than thirty governments of all parts of the world, to coordinate positions after the Alaska Summit was announced. “You have to put an end to this war. You have to put pressure on Russia to achieve fair peace,” he emphasized once again.
The planned meeting between Trump and Putin, the first of this type since the beginning of the war, has caused great restlessness in Ukraine, which has not been included in the format despite the insistence of the EU, which has claimed Washington not to make decisions without taking into account kyiv or the European partners, since the conflict affects the security of Europe.
The White House, on the other hand, has reduced on Tuesday the expectations that Friday’s summit serve to close a peace agreement and has indicated that for Trump it will be eminently an “listening exercise.” (EFE)
