“Tomorrow, I will launch a provisional measure that creates a credit line of $ 30 billion for Brazilian companies that had damage to Trump’s taxation. [Essa quantia de] R $ 30 billion is the beginning. You can’t put it anymore because you don’t know how much it is, ‘said Lula, indicating that the value can increase if necessary.
According to Lula, the plan will give priority to smaller companies and perishable food.
“We are thinking of helping small businesses, which export spinach, fruits, honey and other things. Machine companies. Big companies have more resistance power. We will approve [a medida provisória] Tomorrow, and I think it will be important for us to show that no one will be helpless for President Trump’s taxation, ”continued the president.
According to Lula, the plan will seek to preserve jobs and look for alternative markets for the affected sectors.
“We will take care of the workers of these companies, we will try to find other markets for these companies. We are sending to other countries the list of companies that sold to the United States because we have a motto: no one drops the hands of anyone,” he added.
The president also announced that he will help the affected entrepreneurs to fight, in US court, against the tariff of Brazilian products. “We will encourage entrepreneurs to fight through the markets. You can’t give Trump’s taxation cheap. There are laws in the United States, and we can make a lawsuit. They can fight there,” he explained.
Extraordinary credits
Earlier, shortly after a public hearing in the Senate, Finance Minister Fernando Haddad clarified that the aid measures will come through extraordinary budget credit, resources used in emergency situations outside the fiscal framework limit. This system was used last year to help the victims of floods in Rio Grande do Sul.
Without giving details about the plan, Haddad stated that the measures are 100% ready and include the demands of the productive sector. He stressed that the formulation of the proposals occurred after meetings with several representatives and that it must be “necessary to attend to the affected”.
