Parliamentarians of the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo and the City Council of the Capital filed on Wednesday (13) a series of projects of encouragement and protection of breastfeeding. The initiative is part of
In the House, the projects propose measures as free of public transport for lactating and milk donors, obligation to install rooms for breastfeeding in public buildings and creation of the Municipal Breastfeeding Week.
In the Assembly, the deputies presented a bill that created a program focused on breastfeeding protection in the event of climate catastrophes, such as the one that occurred in São Sebastião, in the coast of São Paulo, in 2023.
In these cases, the government would have to ensure support to lactating and children, with distribution of children’s formulas, bottles and other items.
“Society needs to treat breastfeeding as a collective issue. For this, the state needs to guarantee a network of support for this essential act for a life with quality,” says Paula Nunes, state code that PSOL’s feminist bench.
