Sporting buys commercial space Alvalaxia for 17 million euros

At the time, the chairman of the General Assembly (MAG) ‘Leonina’, João Palma, did not clarify what typology of purchase was approved, whether the direct acquisition or through shares, shares or participation units representative of the capital of the owner.

“The new space will join the project of ‘City Sporting’, complementing the remodeling works currently underway on the west side of the José Alvalade Stadium. For the time 2026/2027, interventions on the nascent side, which will enrich the offer and experience of supporters and visitors,” he explained.

Will be converted in a new museum

The repurchase of Alvalaxia to be comforted in a new museum is in the strategic plan for the next decade released last year by Sporting, which alienated the commercial space in 2007, during the presidency of Filipe Soares Franco.

“This step represents the fulfillment of one of the central goals defined in the Strategic Plan, in which Sporting has established that ‘Sporting City is an innovative project that consolidates the view that sport is a means of achieving the improvement of well-being in people’s lives. The concept was conceived to provide a holistic experience, streamlining the surroundings of Jose Alvalade Stadium and the João Rocha Pavilion that integrates Sport, art, culture and technology, “he said.

According to the ‘Leões’, the project of the new experience for Alvalaxia is under development and the club will present the news in a phased way next time as they are implemented.
