US President Donald Trump, according to the sources of the British daily The Daily Telegraph at Friday’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, to offer the Kremlin boss access to the metals of rare soils in Ukraine, trying to convince him to end the war. It allegedly wants natural resources to access Russia in Alaska and proposes to abolish sanctions on the Russian air industry, TASR reports.

“There are a number of incentives, which could include a potential mineral and rare earth agreement,” the source informed about the proposal.

In Ukrainian territories, it is estimated to be about ten percent of the world’s lithium reserves used to produce batteries. The two largest deposits are found in areas controlled by Russia and Putin claims the valuable minerals found in the regions that occupy its forces.

The US has concluded an agreement

Telegraph recalls that the US signed an agreement on the extraction of precious earths in May, which allows them to use the rich natural sources of Ukraine. Washington, however, will have to set up new mining operations, which could speed up cooperation with Russia.

According to sources, another proposal of the US party is the abolition of a ban on exporting air components and equipment needed to maintain Russian aircraft. Many of them are in poor condition for sanctions and to repair their army and civil airlines use components from older machines.

Sergei Chemez, head of the Russian state -owned company Rostec, estimated this year that up to 30 percent of Russian aircraft Western production could be grounded over the next five years. The British daily concludes that the abolition of sanctions could also be advantageous for the American company Boeing.

Europe could accept proposals

Trump is also considering offering access to natural resources in the Bering Strait, which separates American Alaska from Russian Chukotka. According to the Daily Telegraph, the strengthening of Russia would strengthen Putin’s strategic interests in the Arctic.

British sources for the daily said these proposals could be acceptable for Europe if Putin had not raised as a winner from the negotiations.

“The point is that it must be presented so that it is in accordance with public opinion on this matter. It cannot be seen as a reward for Putin,” the source said.
