A video that circulates on social networks shows a jaguar walking quietly along a road that, according to residents, would be the BR-364, near the bridge over the Liberdade River, in Cruzeiro do Sul. In the images, the feline appears in the middle of the track and then goes to the side, while filmed by people inside a car.
In messaging groups, there are reports that the registration would have been made in the region of the variant, which connects the BR-364 to the municipality of Cruzeiro do Sul and is surrounded by forest areas.

The presence of jaguars in the region is not unprecedented. On June 27 this year, residents of Gleba Retumba, also on BR-364, near the variant, found what would be the footprint of a painted jaguar. A resident recorded the moment and reported in the video that the trail was not small and that the animal could be prowling community creations.
“It’s a wet clay, like a sludge, but it’s a trail of the jaguar, okay, this is from the jaguar painted. My husband started to see her trail here. It’s not small, no. We create a little boy here. And I think she’s waving. It’s the ox trail, she said.
The occurrence of jaguars in Acre extensions and roads is considered relatively common. In May this year, students who were heading for the Antonio Simplício State School in the municipality of Feijó recorded a jaguar crossing a bridge in the Novo Berlin branch. The episode led to the suspension of classes at the unit for several days.
In October 2023, two painted jaguars were filmed walking in the branch of Cesar Messias in Sena Madureira. At the time, the animals walked side by side and were not afraid of the presence of a passing vehicle.
