“In hospitals last Saturday, 63 cases of alcohol poisoning have been dealing as a result of the consumption of beverages contaminated with methyl alcohol,” The Kuwaitian Ministry stated in its statement.
A total of 21 people blinded after poisoning, or their eyesight was significantly damaged, in 51 cases doctors had to use dialysis and in 31 cases of artificial lung ventilation. All affected were foreigners from other Asian countries. AFP recalls that in 1964 the Kuwait government has banned alcohol imports and it is also illegal to keep and use.
