The Coalition Council has agreed, among other other bases of the budget and consolidation, to compensate for gas, heat and electricity prices for 2026. The Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico (Smer-SD) on the social network informed on Thursday after the meeting of the Coalition Council.
Compensation will affect 90 % of Slovak households. The Prime Minister said that Otherwise, energy prices would rise by a third, which the coalition council considers unacceptable. Compensation is the impact on state budget expenditure EUR 435 million.
At the same time, Fico refuted claims about further increasing value added tax (VAT) in consolidation. According to him, the coalition council is strongly opposed to these lies. “There is no such proposal,” concluded the Prime Minister.
