During patrolling in the Novo Horizonte extension, near km 01, the Vila Campinas Military Police intercepted this week a load of smuggled cigarettes. The action was part of routine approaches to vehicles that were moving through the road.
According to information from the corporation, the military stopped for inspection a red Chevrolet Classic, M*-** 2 plates, driven by GSC, 31. In the survey, 26 cigarette boxes were found, each with 25 packs, totaling 650 packs.

The driver was arrested and was taken to the Plácido de Castro Civil Police Station for appropriate measures. In addition to the illicit load, three cell phones were seized – two of the Motorola brand, in operation, and an unused Xiaomi – a card machine, $ 102 in cash and a backpack with folders and documents that, according to the suspect, belonged to their butcher shop in Rio Branco. According to the PM, the use of handcuffs was necessary due to the agitated behavior of man, aiming at his and police safety.

The corporation stressed that after the revitalization of the road, Ramal Novo Horizonte became an important corridor for the flow of local production, but has also been used for illicit activities such as drug trafficking, smuggling and theft. The Military Police said they will continue to intensify inspection to ensure community security.
