Long before bodybuilding stands out as one of the main sports in Brazil, the nation was already represented by Eduardo Corrêa on the most targeted and competitive stages on the planet. With nine appearances in Olympia (among them, eight resulted in the athlete’s trip to the final of the competition), he is regarded by experts and fans as the biggest name of this sport in the country.

Speaking of controversial results he has obtained throughout his career, Corrêa states that the sport is not meritocratic: “You have to understand that the result does not define it. It is a sport where it is a comparison. An athlete who did 80% can beat an opponent who gave everything about himself. To embrace me and say, ‘No one has done more than me, no more than me’.

This kind of experience, according to the bodybuilder himself, helps him with the transition from athlete to coach he is currently going through. “I learned a lot, I acquired a lot of experience, and working with these young people gives me the opportunity to use and pass on that knowledge. This gives all the meaning to some things I lived, that made me wonder if I was really on the right track,” he says.

Currently, the Santa Catarina athlete takes care of the preparation of several young bodybuilders, such as João Marques, 19, and Ricardo Lobo, 17, who compete in Classic Physique’s “Teen” category.

About the relationship with his athletes, the 44 -year -old bodybuilder points out that it is a two -way way: “It’s as if this cycle closed, it’s as if today I could understand the reasons why I lived every situation, each tightening. Just as I perform an important role in their life, they are important to me as well. paper “.

“It is a learning relationship […] Living with the boys is something that gives me the opportunity to pass all the baggage I have acquired throughout my life and my career. They are as important to me as I am to them, “adds Corrêa.

The bodybuilder also does not hide the will that has to be “outdated” by other names in the Brazilian scenario, such as Ramon Dino and Rafael Brandão. “I’m very grateful and work so that athletes like them can [vencer o Olympia]. I know there is only one way I perpetuate myself in this universe, which is to help these athletes continue to this, “he points out.

Finally, Corrêa concludes that she could “support” in her titles forever, but ensures that her career in sport is not just about it: “Today, I have already gotten out and detached me a little. […] It’s not about me, it’s about this new stage: using what I learned to help new athletes, new dreams, new opportunities. I feel very victorious and I feel that I earn a lot with it, because it is a daily experience that I have: teaching and learning about this art that is bodybuilding. “
