Hand or basement baggage? Meet the list of objects that can stop your bag on the x-ray

Airport safety controls are increasingly strict, and just carry an object forbidden to see your bag retained on the x-ray. The National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) and the European Commission define clear rules on what it may or may not take with it on the plane, whether in the cabin or the basement. Knowing this list is essential to avoid delays, fines and even the seizure of goods.

What cannot travel in the hand luggage

In the cabin, it is forbidden to transport any object that may be risk for flight, passengers or crew. According to Anac, they are in this category:

  • Firearms, replicas and imitations that can be confused with real weapons.
  • Neutralizing devices such as TASERS, ELECTRIC BASTS OR DISABILITING SPRAYS.
  • Cutting or piercing objects, including knives and scissors with blades more than 6 cm, axes or ice treadmills.
  • Potentially dangerous tools such as berbocin, keys or saws.
  • Straight objects such as baseball tacos, sticks or matracas.
  • Explosives and incendiary articles, including ammunition, grenades, fireworks and gunpowder.

PowerBanks and Lithium Batteries

Lithium batteries, including powerbanks, are allowed only in hand luggage. The usual maximum capacity is 100 WH; Above this amount, prior authorization from the airline is required. Without visible indication of capacity, the device can be retained in control.

Prohibited Articles in the basement baggage

In the basement, the list of prohibitions is also extensive. Explosives, pyrotechnic, liquids and flammable substances, smoke generators and ammunition cannot be dispatched. Firearms and disabling weapons can only follow by compliance with legal and safe transport rules. Lithium and Powerbanks batteries are not allowed and should always be taken in the cabin.

Sanctions for those who violate the rules

Transporting prohibited articles can lead to immediate apprehension of objects, application of fines and, in more serious cases, court proceedings. It advises you to verify the list of prohibited articles with the airline and to consider the restrictions of the destination country.

Food and liquids on board

In the cabin are allowed solid foods, but liquids and pasty products must respect the limit of 100 ml per package, packed in a transparent bag of 20 x 20 cm.

Baby products, liquid medications and essential dietary foods may exceed this limit, provided they are declared in control.

Always plan the trip

Planning the trip includes more than choosing destination and packing. Knowing the rules for hand and basement luggage helps to avoid setbacks and ensures that your trip begins without startle at the airport.
