High forest fire risk in the east of Austria

The rainy July increased the groundwater level, but the risk of forest fires has already risen again after a few dry, hot days in the east of Austria: for the next three days there is a high risk of forest fire, i.e. the second highest warning level, as a model of the geosphere Austria calculates using the weather data. At this level “you have to be very careful, every carelessness can lead to a fire,” emphasizes Florian Kraxner from the International Institute for Applied System Analysis (IIASA) in Laxenburg near Vienna on a standard request.
