Judge rejects Elon Musk’s request and maintains OpenAi process for harassment

In the dispute between Elon Musk and OpenAi, an artificial intelligence company (AI) led by Sam Altman, the CEO of X (former Twitter) lost. A US district judge, Yvonne Gonzalez, denied Musk’s request to reject OpenAi -filed harassment allegations.

According to the court, there are sufficient grounds for the case to proceed normally. The court also criticized both Musk and OpenAi, claiming manipulations by both parties. With this, new chapters in the judicial dispute between Musk and Altman are expected to emerge in the coming months.

In the case file, OpenAi accuses the tycoon of the technology of conducting a defamatory campaign against the company over the years. In order to harm startup business, Musk would have used both social networks and false acquisition promises to manipulate the perception of the company. On the other hand, the executive filed a lawsuit against the owner of ChatgPT for breach of contract, after the transition from the organization to a model for profit, OpenAi LP.

What happened?

Before buying Twitter for $ 218 billion ($ 44 billion), in 2022, Musk was among the group of founders of OpenAi. However, after claiming conflicts of interest, he left the company’s advice in February 2018. According to Musk, his autonomous car company, Tesla, was advancing in his own AI projects. At the time, he claimed that he would continue to support OpenAi’s mission.

Since his departure, Musk has become a public critic of the company. In 2023, he founded Xai, a direct competitor from OpenAi, to invest in Grok, a Generative AI program integrated into the X social network.

Later this week, Musk said Apple would be favoring OpenAi over Grok in the App Store, damaging its competitor. In response, Sam Altman accused Musk of manipulating the X algorithm to benefit his own posts and companies. Altman cited a 2023 report that indicated this behavior and challenged Musk to sign a sworn statement by denying manipulation.

The narrative dispute had unfolding even chatbots, as Grok claimed that Musk was right in the court dispute, while the interactions with OpenAi’s chatgpt indicated the opposite.
