Premier League is a shortcut for Brazilian World Cup – 14/08/2025 – The world is a ball

It starts this Friday (15), with the match of Liverpool, the current champion, against Bournemouth, the trendy Premier League.

The English championship nothing in cash, is the richest in the world. It offers great lawns, and stadiums are invariably full – apparently, the English like football more than us.

In this scenario, the Premier League is the object of desire for most players, including Brazilians.

From England there are undeniable proposals, either for the athlete, to the athlete’s club, to the athlete’s entrepreneur. It is a well -played football combination with high salaries, fierce competitiveness, passionate fans, impeccable arenas. Who doesn’t want?

In addition, for Brazilians, it is the best showcase that exists if the player aims to reach the World Cup. That is right there. The 2026, USA, Mexico and Canada, begins in June, after the end of the championships that follow the European calendar (August to May).

In the three most recent cups, the Brazilian team had more players who were in English football than with those who played in other squares.

In Brazil-2014, it was 6 of 23 in Russia-2018, again 6 of 23. In Qatar-2022, came the explosion: 12 of the 26 (almost half) of Tite selection paraded his football in the land of King Charles 3, sworn in September 2022, two months before the World Cup.

This dozen impresses because it is half of the total (24) of Brazilians who started season 2022/2023 at the Premier League. Fifty percent of those who were there, or one every two, went to the Qatar Cup. It is a very high percentage.

Returning to the 12 “English” at the 2022 Cup, 5 (almost half) were holders: Alisson of Liverpool; Thiago Silva, from Chelsea; Casemiro, from Manchester United; Lucas Paquetá, from West Ham; Richarlison of Tottenham.

Note that, being in England, it is not necessary to appear in a superpowered team to have time in the Brazilian team, including the 11th, Paquetá case. This goes for the present day.

The Italian Carlo Ancelotti, who took command of Brazil in late May, included in his first call, for two games for the 2026 World Cup, seven Premier League athletes, a total of 25.

They were holders against Ecuador Alisson, Casemiro, Bruno Guimarães and Richarlison. In front of Paraguay, they started playing Alisson, Casemiro, Bruno Guimarães, Gabriel Martinelli and Matheus Cunha.

The latter defended Wolverhampton, one of the most modest clubs in the English elite. Andreas Pereira, from Fulham, another team that is among the least reputable in the English Championship, entered the end of the match against Ecuadorians.

Proven the Premier League is a kind of shortcut to reach the selection. Thus, the chances of those who have been there for a long time and novices, such as Stephen (former Palmeiras, now Chelsea), Igor Jesus (former Botafogo, now Nottingham Forest), Lucas Pires (former Santos, now Burnley).

There are 33 Brazilians spread across 17 teams. That in the next nine months they will be trying to manage a place in the final summons of Ancelotti to cross the Atlantic and spend a few weeks in North America.

Not on vacation, but in search of hexa.
