The governor (PSD) does not participate in agendas with the president on Thursday (14).
The absence is interpreted by Lula’s allies as a message about the 2026 elections. For them, Rachel’s absence is a strong indication that she will not support the president’s reelection next year.
Deputy Governor Priscila Krause (PSD) will represent the state government.
In 2026, Lula should support the mayor of Recife, (PSB), to the government of Pernambuco.
A petista parliamentarian who works in Brasilia classified, under reserve of source, the absence of Rachel as “an absurd” and “an unkindness”.
President’s allies also say that Lula has a good institutional relationship with Raquel Lyra.
“The president’s agenda happened very quickly. She also had an agenda. I think it was missing dialogue between the state government and the federal government. Every other times she was present. I think the governor could not be left out,” says the state deputy and president of the PT of Pernambuco, Doriel Barros.
The state government officially confirmed on Thursday the absence of Raquel during the inauguration of Hemobras factory in Goiana and the delivery of land regularization titles in Brasilia Teimosa, Recife.
Raquel Lyra will be in Petrolina and Ouricuri, in the backlands, at popular listening events. On previous occasions, the governor has postponed official commitments to be next to the president.
