Brazilian Rebeca Andrade, 26, will not participate in this year’s Artistic Gymnastics World Cup, scheduled for October, in Jakarta, Indonesia. According to coach Francisco Porath, the athlete will spend the whole season without competing, giving a necessary rest to her body.

“We chose not to compete this year. Within Rebeca’s planning, this year would be quieter,” said Porath, known as Xico, in an interview with GE.com, pointing out the need for what he called “active destruction.”

“The whole team thought it was not the best time to get it from this cruise flight. Then, yes, in 2026, we have very important appointments.

Rebeca had already announced last Tuesday (12) at an event in Rio de Janeiro, which would no longer participate in soil competitions. With multiple knee surgeries, Guarulhense decided to stop acting in the discipline of gymnastics that most punishes the articulation.

It was precisely on the ground that the Brazilian won a gold medal at the Paris Olympic Games last year. She has six Olympic medals (two gold, three silver and one bronze) and nine in world (three gold, four silver and two bronze).

The collection will not increase soon, with priority for rest. The idea is to gradually increase the workload from next year, focusing on the preparation for the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028.

“This year, I am taking more care of my physical and mental health, I am not training so strongly,” said the athlete at the Tuesday event. “This is crucial for the coming years, we have at least one more Olympics ahead.”
