Polish President Charles Nawrocky was asked by the American party to represent Poland at Wednesday’s teleconference of European leaders with US President Donald Trump about Ukraine instead of Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Tusk said it, which was originally supposed to perform at the meeting. This is reported by the Warsaw newsletter TASR, who summed up information from the Polish media and contributions of the local officials on the X.
According to PAP TUSK, he said that the request came to the Prime Minister’s office on Tuesday before midnight. According to him, the tradition of American diplomacy should be the reason to favor contacts at the presidential level, which was also done by previous presidents. Tusk stressed that, despite political differences, it is the duty of the government and the President to cooperate on security and foreign policy.
The role of the German office
According to the daily Rzeczpospolita, the German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who has persuaded Trump for a long time, also played a role in the participation of Poland to consult the attitude of European leaders before Friday’s summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin. As a result, Poland was included in the narrow circle of countries invited to the discussion. Finally, Merz agreed with Trump’s proposal to participate in Nawrocki and not Tusk in the meeting for Poland.
“The interview of Nawrocký with Trump was very important. It was a first -class wagon,” said Marcin Przydacz, head of the International Policy Department of the Presidential Office. By comparing the first -class meeting meeting, he indirectly touched the May train to Kiev, when leaders of Germany, Great Britain and France traveled together while Tusk went in a special wagon. According to the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was for security reasons and was organized by the Ukrainian party. According to some media, however, this was symbolic marginalization of Tuska by three European leaders.
Three separate negotiations
Three independent negotiations on Ukraine were held on Wednesday. On the first, in a narrow format of selected European leaders with President Volodymyr Greeny, Poland was represented by Tusk. The second discussion, teleconference of Germany, France, Italy, Great Britain, Poland and Finland with Trump and Greeny, took place with the participation of Nawrock. The third meeting included approximately 30 European officials, including the Polish Prime Minister.

Tusk said he wanted to talk about cooperation in representing Poland in foreign policy issues and prevent the country from being distributed by enemies or allies. He stressed that the President is to present the position agreed with the government in the representation of Poland and the government should allow such cooperation.
