United States President Donald Trump again harden the tone against Brazil on Thursday (14), in speech to journalists at the White House Oval Hall. In a new defense of Jair Bolsonaro, who responds to the lawsuit in the Federal Supreme Court for attempted coup, the president said he met the Brazilian former Mandanker and, without directing the accusations directly, classified the trial as a “political execution.”
“They took a president, put him in prison and are now trying to arrest him again. I think he’s an honest man. What they are doing is really a political execution,” he said.
Commenting on business relationship between the two countries, the Republican said Brazil “has been a horrible commercial partner” and justified the imposition of 50% tariff on Brazilian products as a response to “tremendous fees” that, according to him, the country charges on American goods

“They [o Brasil] They charge much larger rates than we charge. We essentially were not charging anything. They have always made it very difficult to do anything, ”he said.“ So now they are being charged with 50% tariffs and they are not happy. But that’s how it works. ”
The statements take place amid the worst diplomatic crisis in decades between Brasilia and Washington, which began after Trump links the tariffs to interrupt Bolsonaro’s judgment, a requirement considered “unacceptable” by the Brazilian government. Since then, Lula has sought support from Brics countries to face American economic pressure.
Trump said he is not “at all concerned” with the approach of countries such as Brazil and Mexico of China. “They can do whatever they want,” he said.
