Boconists with contacts at the US State Department say there is a possibility that the government soon announces the revocation of visas of people who have implemented the program in Brazil.
One of the authorities that could get into the sights of the sanctions, according to the panel found, would be the current secretary of specialized care of the Ministry of, Mozart Sales, who was one of the creators of the program under the Dilma Rousseff government in 2013.
He is one of the closest advisors to Health Minister Alexandre Padilha, who held the same position in Dilma management.
The Trump government is critical of the program, which used Cuban doctors. Part of the salaries paid by the Brazilian government to professionals was appropriated by the communist dictatorship, which could thus have economic relief.
On Wednesday (13), US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is a descendant of Cubans exiled by the communist dictatorship, made a post indicating that he would take action. He did not directly cite Brazil or the most doctors, however.
“The State Department is taking steps to impose visa restrictions on various government authorities in Africa, Cuba and Granada accomplices in the Cuban regime’s forced export scheme. We are dedicated to ending this practice. Countries that are accomplices in this exploratory practice should think twice,” he wrote.
