Result of Brazil’s main financial institution is impacted by the discharge in individuals (5.59%) and agribusiness (3.49%)

In the 2nd quarter of 2025, the MFB (gross financial margin) totaled R $ 25.1 billion, with a 4.9% growth over the 1st quarter, but a 1.9% retraction compared to the previous year.
BB’s credit portfolio reached R $ 1.3 trillion at the end of June – a 11.2% increase over last year. Total default rose to 4.21%, compared to 3% in the same month of 2024, one of the factors that most affected performance.
The increase in credit loss provision was one of the main reasons for the negative result, totaling R $ 15.9 billion in the 2nd quarter of 2025, with a 104% increase in 2024.
The result reflects the highest default and the application of the BC (Central Bank), which requires banks to reserve values corresponding to what they expect not to receive back – and not just what is already in delay.
The expected loss flow included R $ 7.9 billion in agribusiness, R $ 4.8 billion in individuals and R $ 4.3 billion in legal entities. At Agro, which represents 33.8% of the expanded credit portfolio, default over 90 days reached 3.49%. Among individuals, it is 5.59%.
