Candleft at Morro da Glória causes revolt on the eve of procession in Cruzeiro do Sul

A few days from the closing of the 107th November of Our Lady of Gloria, the Catholic community of Cruzeiro do Sul was surprised by an act of vandalism. Candles used in the ornamentation of Morro da Glória disappeared at night, compromising part of the special decoration prepared for the traditional procession that takes place this Friday (15). The event is expected to gather about 50,000 believers on the city streets.

The stolen objects were part of a collective work, designed to symbolize devotion to the patron saint. The absence of candles was noted by volunteers in the early hours of the morning, generating indignation between devotees and repercussions on social networks.

In a video released by the organization, one of the coordinators mourned what happened. “Unfortunately they stole the candles. It was done last night all this decoration, right? They ended all the work of the staff here, which they organized. Every day society is harder,” he said.
