When mercury on the thermometer climbs high and can no longer breathe in the shade, we tend to reach for lemonades, ice or air conditioning. But nature knows far smarter tricks. Indeed, they can cool the body pleasantly – whether in the form of tea, refreshing infusion or as part of a summer diet. You can grow them in the garden and in the box. Mint: First aid in the heat
Mint is indispensable in the summer. Not only does it refresh the taste of any drink, but it also contains a menthol that acts coolly on the body. All you need is a few leaves for carafe with water, mint infusion or home sorbet and is better immediately. In addition, it promotes digestion, which is often slowed in the heat.
If you have little space on the balcony, reach for peppery or classy – both grow in a pot. And if you cut them, they will grow even more.

Lemon Verbena: The Aroma of Summer
An inconspicuous herb with a distinctive lemon aroma, which you will appreciate especially in tea or as an ingredient in home lemonade. Lemon verbena looks cool, soothes the mind and, according to traditional medicine, also reduces internal body heat.
You can grow it in a sunny place – ideally in a box where it is beautifully delighted. It is also great for summer desserts or as a fragrant decoration of salads.
Class and Mallow: Body Cooling
While the coneflower is known more as a supporter of immunity, its flowers and leaves look cool and refresh. The mallow then forms a cooling protective film on the mucous membranes, which helps the body naturally equal to heat.
“Echinacea hybrids bloom richly and are very adaptable – they are suitable for formal and informal gardens. Fortunately, new cultivars have retained the same resistance to heat and drought as the native species. Their strong, deep penetrating roots retain water, which will easily survive the dry period,” says the Gardener.
You can grow both plants in Czech conditions. In addition, the mallow blooms beautifully and decorates every flower bed.
Basil Sacred: Ayurvedic Aid
So -called. TULSI, or, or, has been used in Ayurveda for centuries to cool the body and calm stress. It has a slightly spicy taste and tea tastes great both warm and icy.
In our conditions, grow it as an annual – it needs warmth and a lot of sun, but it will reward with rich leaves with intense scent. Ideal for tea or summer vegetable meals.
Fennel and coriander: cool spice
Not only herbs, but also some spices can cool. Fennel seeds and fresh coriander promote the cooling of the body, especially when they are part of light summer meals. Coriander can be grown in a box and joking regularly – it will grow fast and will have a fresh taste.
Fennel can be grown as decorative and utility plant – collect its seeds in August and use in teas or home mixtures.
