The United States government has canceled the visas of 10 -year -old wife and daughter, health minister Alexandre Padilha (PT). Both are in Brazil and were informed of the decision through communications of the US General Consulate in São Paulo.
Padilha was not the target of the measure because his visa won in 2024. In warnings sent to the family, the US government claimed that after the concession, information that made the beneficiaries “not eligible” to enter the country emerged. The document, obtained by G1clarifies that in such cases the visa is automatically invalidated when the bearer leaves the American territory.
The episode occurs in the wake of against Brazilian authorities associated with the Mais Médicos program. The US State Department revoked the visas of Mozart Julio Tabosa Sales, secretary of specialized health care, and Alberto Kleiman, former ministry’s international relations advisor and current general coordinator for COP30.

In a statement, the US embassy classified the program how it financially benefited the “corrupt Cuban regime”, with connivance of Brazilian and former employees of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).
Support by Eduardo Bolsonaro
The measure received public support from licensed federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), who moved to the United States and seeks direct dialogue with the Donald Trump government. According to him, the decision reinforces the commitment of the US Administration to “punish authoritarian regimes.”
Eduardo has argued that Washington adopts sanctions against Brazil in retaliation of the trial of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in the Federal Supreme Court (STF) for attempted coup.
