This week was made the punishment of transfer ban against Corinthians for debts with Mexican club Santos Laguna, from Mexico, for the purchase of defender Félix Torres.
With the transferred transfer Ban, Timon is prevented from recording new players for three transfer windows (the current and next two). To get rid of the punishment, the São Paulo club needs to pay off the debt or reach an agreement with the Mexican team.
However, in addition to the Felix Torres case, Corinthians risks suffering new punishments due to two new demands in the Arbitral Court of Sport (CAS). The cases involve the hiring of Rodrigo Garro and the termination of Matías Rojas, both in 2024.
If the debt with Santos Laguna remains and/or Corinthians suffers new convictions, Dorival Júnior’s team risks more severe punishment, such as losing points in the Brazilian Championship.
In an interview with UOL, sports attorney Luiz Marcondes explained the possibility.
– Transfer Ban is a sanction applied by FIFA observing the statute of the entity, the status and transfer of players (RSTJ) regulation and especially the disciplinary code. Article 21 provides that points deduction and relegation may be applied if the lack of payment is persisted (if the period of three windows is exhausted without discharge), or in case of recurrence and serious infractions. Therefore, there is a legal basis for new sanctions, but with gradual and proportional application – analyzes.
Corinthians can lose points in Brasileirão if not resolve the transfer ban.
In addition to the case involving Felix Torres, Timon has two other demands in the Arbitral Court of Sport (CAS) that can result in new punishments. They are related to the hiring of Rodrigo Garro… pic.twitter.com/qwAEzElV3r
