The philosopher and writer Luiz Felipe Pondé stated that “the Bolsonarist movement has destroyed the ability to criticize the monopoly that the PT [Partido dos Trabalhadores] It has in the country ”, characterizing it as an element that” only gets in the way. ”
The statement was made during its participation in the ‘WW Special’ program, CNNwhich discussed whether Brazilian democracy needs saviors.
Pondé expressed concern about the insistence on known political figures, such as President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) and former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), indicating that such a scenario suggests that “democracy needs to be saved.”
“When I see people who are trained, have experience, it is part of the general public thinking, to wish, for example, that Lula will be the candidate in 2026, it gives me the impression that democracy needs to be saved in the sense that it is the same as those who insist on thinking that Bolsonaro is a great figure,” he said.
For the philosopher, the true solution to the current political polarization would come with the emergence of new leaders to break with the established ways.
“If there were any candidate, whether on the right, to the left, to break with these two ways represented by Lula and Bolsonaro, who knows if it would come to a less delinquent political leadership as we are living today,” he said.
Pondé’s criticisms extended to the Legislative Power, which, in his analysis, seems to focus on his own interests to the detriment of national well-being.
“The same thing happens when it comes to the legislature, which sometimes gives the impression that you are more concerned with yourself, with your interests, is not very concerned about the country, at all,” he criticized.
The writer also lamented that the current political discussion is attached to a clash between pockets and petistas, while, in his view, “the country is going to Brejo.”
Finally, Pondé directed his attention to the Supreme Court (STF), warning of the risks of the excessive visibility that the court has received in recent times. He emphasized that this exposure can undermine public trust in the institution.
“To some extent, in recent times, the Supreme Court has been very under light. And we know that when some form of institutional power is very under light, credibility begins to crack and people begin to realize that perhaps it is not as solid as it seems to be,” he said.
