In a new round of conversations in Washington, the deputy (-SP) took stock of members of the government of repercussion of the sanctions of the United States in Brazil and discussed the expansion of punishments to Brazilian authorities.

In a meeting with the Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Eduardo says he emphasized that the financial gains of the minister’s family, (Supreme Federal Court) have a great participation of the magistrate’s wife, Viviani Barci, as a lawyer.

In parallel, Eduardo and businessman Paulo Figueiredo, who was also at the meeting, were perception that Brazilian banks are not performing the sanctions to Moraes in full.

The consequences would also be to include Viviane in the list of sanctioned to reach financially and forcing banks to end the minister’s accounts.

“I spent my view that Moraes and his wife, when talking in a financial part, they are like one person, because Moraes does not live on his salary, this is notorious,” Eduardo told the Sheet.

“I said that his wife became a millionaire after Moraes was nominated for the Supreme Court, that from there she was increasingly successful in raising millionaire causes. And even Moraes, before being Supreme Court minister, was part of the same law firm,” he said.

The Trump government determined at the end of July the imposition of economic sanctions on Moraes based on.

So far, however, Brazilian banks have understood that only international transactions in dollars are blocked, and those of reais would be maintained.

In addition to Viviane’s inclusion in Magnitsky’s law, there is also the possibility of the US government to make another punishment, which is to advise US companies to hire the lawyer. This measure could apply to relatives of other STF ministers.

Eduardo said he stressed the assessment that banks who are representing in the US would not be complying with the sanction to Moraes by keeping the minister’s accounts open.

“This Brazilian interpretation is a Brazilian jabuticaba, this is nowhere,” he argued.

“Now this was my opinion, which can be accepted or not by the US government, by the secretary, because he is the one who makes the decisions. So I assured them that they were aware of the recent facts that occurred in Brazil,” he said.

On another front, Eduardo says the US government studies a new wave of visa to the US from people working with Moraes, such as judges, advisors and delegates.

He also says he told US authorities that Moraes blocked his accounts and that of his wife, Heloisa Bolsonaro, to harm them financially in the US.

The Supreme Court minister had their accounts freeze their accounts under the request of the (Attorney General’s Office) precisely by articulating measures against Moraes and Brazil in the United States.

The Prosecutor’s Office cites in the investigation the coercion crimes in the course of the process, obstruction of criminal offense investigation involving criminal organization and violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law.

Since January, Eduardo has worked to convince American authorities of what he claims to be censorship and abuse of Moraes’s decisions. This perception echoed in the Government Donald Trump. The US not only sanctioned the minister, but prevented other STF ministers from entering the country and applied 50% tariffs to imported products.

Last week, Eduardo and Figueiredo met with members of the White House and the State Department, as well as the Treasury. Conversations occur while the Brazilian government itself finds closed doors to negotiate with Trump.

The US president linked his measures to what he sees as “witch hunt” against, and Lula and the Supreme Court say that this issue is non -negotiable.

Magnist

The magnistky law provides that it can be included in the list of sanctioned those who collaborate with US condemned conduct.

The punished person receives a sanction from OFAC, a foreign asset control office, which belongs to the US Treasury Department.

Through the decision, the US government determines the freezing of any good or asset that the sanctioned person has us and can also ban US financial entities from doing dollar operations with them.

The measure would include the use of MasterCard and Visa credit card flags, for example. The effects on Moraes’ transactions in reais in Brazil are still under bank analysis.
