The foreign ethanol market is on FS radar, the largest corn ethanol producer in Brazil. In the program Business root, its road between the countryside and Faria Lima, a partnership between Infoomoney and The AgribizCEO Rafael Abud explained that some countries, such as Japan, already have environmental goals that will require low carbon ethanol import. “Japan will have to import from Brazil and the US. There is no way to produce there – and we are talking about a market close to 5 billion liters from 2030, with E10,” he said.
The executive stressed that Brazilian ethanol has a competitive advantage for international certification, which, precisely, already recognizes its smallest carbon footprint. This seal values the national model and can guarantee price prizes abroad.
In addition to Japan, other Asian countries are studying expanding the mix of ethanol in gasoline, which creates opportunities such as Indonesia, Vietnam and India-which is also a major sugarcane producer.

Logistics, however, follows a bottleneck for the sector. Transport, in most cases, from plants to ports is quite costly for the operation. “But things are improving. We have seen important investments in Mato Grosso, for example, with the duplication of BR 163. So that has advanced,” said the executive.
