France calls for Israel to abandon the West Bank Settlement Plan of Jordan

France criticizes Israel for the construction in the Westing School. The E1 project allegedly violates international law and weakens the chances of addressing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The French Foreign Ministry on Saturday called for Israel to abandon the plan of construction of thousands of new houses on the western bank of Jordan. This project has identified as a “serious violation of international law”, TASR reports on the basis of AFP report.

A spokesman for the ministry said that France “condemns the maximum emphatic” decision to build 3,400 homes in the particularly disputed area of the occupied Wneginan. Several countries have reported that a project called E1 undermines hopes on the future continuous Palestinian state with Eastern Jerusalem as the capital.

The West Bank of Jordan Israel has occupied since the six -day war in 1967. It is home to about 3 million Palestinians and there is also a Palestinian self -government. At the same time, nearly 500,000 Israelis live in settlements that are illegal under international law. There are more than 100 different size from small communities to fully developed municipalities with apartment buildings, shopping centers, factories and public parks.
