Guinea-Bissau government says it is open to dialogue and promises to clarify expulsion from Lusa, RTP and RDP

The Government of Guinea-Bissau has postponed to Saturday the clarifications on the expulsion of Portuguese social media, including Lusa, RTP Africa and RDP Africa.

The Government of Guinea-Bissau sent clarifications to the expulsion of the Portuguese media to Saturday and was “open to dialogue always”, provided that the sovereignty of the country was respected.

The information was transmitted by the Prime Minister, Braima Camaráand by the Minister of Foreign Affairs (MNE), Carlos Pinto Pereirain statements to journalists at the end of a meeting with the international community in Bissau, about the general elections scheduled for November 23.

Questioned about the measure, the prime minister passed the word to the Foreign Minister who confirmed that this “It is a decision of the government,” which will not comment on the matter today, but “in the coming hours will take another position in terms of clarification on the subject.”

The minister also said that Bissau became aware of the “Communication published by Portugal”referring to the position of the Portuguese Government, and lamented that it did not refer to the grounds of the decision.

To the question about consequences of the measure for the relations between the governments of Guinea-Bissau and Portugal, Carlos Pinto Pereira replied that “Each subject is treated in its proper place and this subject will be dealt with in its proper place.”

Guinea-Bissau is “always open to dialogue”

The Prime Minister, Braima Camará, added after the Government is always open to dialogue.

“Guinea-Bissau is a sovereign state and our sovereignty cost us blood, sweat and tears of the fighters of freedom of the homeland,” he emphasized.

Prime Minister reiterated that, “On the basis of dialogue, discipline, rigor”it is “It is a government of dialogue always” And he said, as a head of government, that Guinea-Bissau will always dialogue, defending the sovereignty of the country.

The decision of the Guinea-Bissau government known this Friday, without advancing the reasons for the expulsion of the Portuguese Social Communicationhas generated reactions in both countries.

Rangel repudiates expulsion from the media

The Portuguese MNE repudiated the expulsion, which “Highly objectionable and unjustifiable”and said it will ask for explanations to the Guinean government.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau in Lisbon was, however, summoned “For explanations and clarification with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs”. The meeting is scheduled for Saturday.

The information directions of Lusa, RTP and RDP reacted together to the decision of the Guinean government, which describe as “A deliberate attack on freedom of expression.”
