This was pointed out by the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMI) on its website. He issued a warning of both first and second levels, preliminarily paying from 13.00 to 18.00 in the whole territory, with the exception of some districts of the Žilina and Prešov regions.
Meteorologists expect local reach of maximum air temperature up to 37 degrees Celsius. In the district of Veľký Krtíš, temperatures can reach up to 38 degrees Celsius, SHMI has issued a third degree warning for this area. “High temperature poses a potential danger to human health, physical activity and fire production. This air temperature is rare at a given time of year and area and the likelihood of damage to health by excessive burden on some persons is high,” they pointed out.
The SHMI specified that children, older people, pregnant women and chronically ill people – especially people with cardiovascular, respiratory or mental diseases or overweight persons – are among the risk groups of population. It recommends that you consistently follow the drinking regime, reduce physical exertion and minimize exterior stay.
