Acre accounted for 18,339 Freight Syndrome consultations between epidemiological weeks 1 and 31 of 2025, according to the epidemiological bulletin of respiratory syndromes released by the State Department of Health (Sesacre). The number, registered in the three sentries of the state, UPA of the 2nd District, in Rio Branco, Raimundo Chaar Hospital, in Brazil, and UPA Jacques Pereira, in Cruzeiro do Sul – is higher than the same period of 2024, which was 16,746 consultations.

According to Sesacre, the age group of 20 to 29 years concentrated the highest volume of care for cases without gravity. Laboratory analyzes of the samples collected in the units indicated predominant circulation of rinoviruses, influenza B, Sars-Cov-2, respiratory sincial virus (VSR), influenza A and adenovirus. The newsletter points out that the increase in notifications is related to the strengthening of monitoring and the expansion of epidemiological surveillance, which have enabled greater detection of viruses in circulation.
In addition to cases of flu syndrome, the document recorded 1,614 notifications of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SRAG) in the same period. Despite a fall compared to 2023 and 2024, SRAG continues to mainly affect children up to 9 years old and elderly over 60, groups that have a higher risk of complications and hospitalizations. Among the most identified viruses in hospitalized SRAG patients are Rinovirus, VSR, Sars-Cov-2 and Influenza A and B.
The bulletin also points out that, from the epidemiological week 20, there was a reduction in the number of SRAG notifications, after a peak observed between weeks 15 and 19. The hospitalizations were concentrated in municipalities such as Rio Branco and Cruzeiro do Sul, with higher volume of records at the Iolanda Costa e Silva Children’s Hospital, the Juruá Regional Hospital and the Rio Branco Emergency Hospital (Huerb).
Sesacre reinforces the importance of influenza vaccination as a prevention measure, especially for children under 9, elderly and people with immunosuppression. However, vaccination coverage in the state is below the 98% target set by the Ministry of Health. Porto Walter and Jordão appear with the best rates in Acre, reaching 68.1% and 61.7%, respectively, while other municipalities remain less than 50%.
In addition to vaccination, the agency recommends continuing preventive measures such as frequent hand hygiene, use of masks in risk environments and social distancing in situations of greater viral circulation. These actions, according to the secretary, are essential to reduce the transmission and complications arising from respiratory diseases
