The court of São Paulo authorized, on Friday (15), the release of the owner, Sidney Oliveira, and the executive of Mario Otavio Gomes, following a request from the Public Prosecutor of SP. The two were arrested on Tuesday (12) during Operation Icarus, conducted by the São Paulo Public Prosecution Service (MPSP), which investigates a possible billionaire scheme to pay bribes and irregular concession of ICMs credits involving tax auditors of the State Finance Secretariat.
The Public Prosecution Service stated that it no longer saw “extreme and proven need to maintain precautionary custody” of the two investigated. Although he considered the granting of “premature” provisional freedom and the case of “extreme gravity”, the judge complied with the ministerial body’s request.
The MP decided to maintain the arrest of tax auditor Artur Gomes da Silva Neto, appointed by MP-SP as responsible for “giving the path of stones” to the operation of the alleged scheme. Another tax auditor cited in the investigations, Marcelo de Almeida Gouveia, will also remain detained. Tatiane de Conceição Lopes, suspected of assisting in money laundering, was released, while her husband, Celso Éder Gonzaga de Araújo, remains in prison. The space is open to the manifestation of the defenses.
