The governor of Minas Gerais, (Novo), who launches his pre-candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic on Saturday (16), defended the compulsory removal of homeless people and compared them to parked cars in forbidden places that must be squealed.
“If someone leaves the car parked in a forbidden place, the car is not squealed? Now there will be someone at the door of a taxer who pays a tax, who generates jobs, doing dirt, disturbing, threatening the customer. No one can do anything,” Zema said in an interview with BBC News Brazil published on Thursday (15).
The governor tries to consolidate himself as the name of the right to the Planalto Palace at the time when the political field lives an uncertainty in the face of the insistence of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to keep his name in the ballot box even though he is ineligible by 2030 and about to be tried on charges of leading a coup plot in 2022.
In the BBC interview, the Minas Gerais governor stated that the public space “is for everyone to use” and that, in his opinion, there should be a national law forbidding homeless home residents or camping on public roads. He also said that these citizens should be brought to shelters and recovery centers, even against the will.
The miner had already defended this position in June.
In the interview with BBC, Zema also reaffirmed the willingness to grant amnesty to Jair Bolsonaro () if elected.
“I keep [essa posição] Yes. I’m not looking for a vote, I’m looking for a solution, “he said.” Why not give amnesty? I think we have to pass a ruler, a rubber, and look at the future. “
Zema also stated support for the sanctions imposed by the United States to the Federal Supreme Court Minister (), but said he did not see American interference in the Brazilian judiciary. The governor also held the president (PT) responsible for the imposition of US commercial tariffs against Brazil.
The miner also defended the “weaning” of the Manaus Free Zone and again proposed changes in Bolsa Familia.
