The City Hall of Cruzeiro do Sul started this Saturday, 16, to the program “Look with affection”, during a ceremony at the Basic Health Unit Jesuino Lins that is in the Aluminum neighborhood. The event was attended by Mayor Zequinha Lima and marked the beginning of ophthalmic surgeries at UBS. The program is the result of a parliamentary amendment by Deputy Eduardo Veloso and, on this first day, 14 patients have already undergone the surgical procedure.

Mayor Zequinha Lima highlighted the importance of the initiative. “Today is a historic day for our city. Thanks to the partnership with federal deputy Eduardo Veloso, we are launching the program“ Look with affection ”. This project will become a reference in ophthalmology for Cruzeiro do Sul and the entire Juruá region. We started with 14 patients, especially the elderly, who were in the out -of -home treatment line (TFD) awaiting surgery in Rio Branco. It is necessary to have surgery, the municipality will offer an ophthalmological consultation and in the face of the result, we will also offer the glasses and the lens to this citizen, ”said Zequinha.
Deputy Eduardo Veloso also stressed the relevance of collaboration with the City Hall. “We are taking a significant step in combating blindness in Acre. I thank Mayor Zequinha for embracing this project, which not only offers ophthalmological care, but also provides dignity to people who are unable to afford the costs of surgery or glasses. The mayor demonstrates sensitivity by ensuring that the population has access to quality health services, without the need for travel to Rio Branco,” he said.
