The federal deputy (PSB-MA), rapporteur of the program’s provisional measure, decided to include psychiatry, neurology and nephrology among the medical care offered by the initiative, launched by in May.
The changes proposed by the parliamentarian will be referred for analysis of the mixed committee that discusses the text. The MP needs to be voted by September 26 to not lose their validity.
The program seeks to increase the offer of specialized health services and provides that clinics, philanthropic and private hospitals that serve SUS (Unified Health System) patients can receive financial credits as a counterpart to the provision of specialized services. The goal is to reduce waiting time for consultations, exams and surgeries specialized in SUS. There is a forecast of up to R $ 2 billion in financial credits to hire services with the private network.
Initially, there were six priority areas: oncology, gynecology, cardiology, orthopedics, ophthalmology and otolaryngology. Duarte Jr. met with the rapporteur of the Provisional Measure, Senator Otto Alencar (PSD-BA), to articulate the inclusion of the other three medical specialties.
The hiring will be carried out by the States and Municipalities, the Conceição Hospital Group or the AGSUS, autonomous social service that seeks to promote the execution of policies to develop indigenous health care and primary health care.
“The inclusion of these specialties represents a concrete advance in combating regional inequalities in access to health,” says Duarte Jr. “Neurology, for example, is fundamental for the diagnosis of disabilities, often condition for access to social benefits such as the BPC.”
The deputy included psychiatry for the growth of cases of mental disorders and repressed demand for mental health care, aggravated by the pandemic. Nephrology, in turn, ensures the continuity of treatments such as hemodialysis, especially in regions where access is limited.
