According to APAV, most cases were reported in Faro, followed by Lisbon and Porto. More than half of this type of crime happens in the relationships of intimacy.
In the first six months of the year, 14 people died in the context of domestic violence. The victims are mostly women, but there are also more men to ask for help.
The number of cases of domestic violence against men is increasing and increasingly asking for help. Last year, 1,073 adult men complained to the Portuguese Victim Support Association (APAV), an increase of 48% compared to 2021.
According to APAV, most cases of domestic violence were reported in Faro, followed by Lisbon and Porto.
More than half of this type of crime happens in intimacy relations (53.5%), but there are also more and more men assaulted by their children. (12.9%).
The victims continue to be mostly women. Between January and March this year were murdered in the context of domestic violence seven people: six women and one man.
