Palmeiras fans suffered an ambush attempt on Sunday morning (17) on the Presidente Dutra Highway, while heading to Rio de Janeiro to follow the match against Botafogo, valid for the Brazilian Championship.
The information was released by the Federal Highway Police, which made the escort of 14 buses of the main organized fans of the team, Mancha Alviverde.
According to the corporation’s advisory, there was no direct confrontation or victims and the authors of the attempted attack were dispersed by the PRF. The interception occurred at the height of km 206 of BR-116, towards Rio de Janeiro.

Another video published on social networks displays fans with uniforms alviverdes, some hooded and carrying stones and stakes. They stop a car that was driving on the side lane of the Dutra and ask the driver to return. One of them says they will “take the hawks”, organized fans of Corinthians.
The PRF did not confirm which fans would be the authors of the attempted ambush.
“The situation was promptly controlled by PRF’s operational teams, allowing the train to take up the route safely and follow as planned to the state of Rio de Janeiro,” he said in a statement to the press.
Around 14h, the buses were passing through the municipality of Barra Mansa, already in the state of Rio de Janeiro, and the federal agency would accompany them for another 30 kilometers until transferred the escort to the Military Police.
