A group of fans attacked the Grêmio delegation bus at Salgado Filho Airport, in Porto Alegre, on Saturday (16). The club said one of its security guards was injured in the confusion.
Grêmio embarked in the afternoon to Belo Horizonte, where he will face Atletico-MG this Sunday (17), in a match valid for the Brasileirão.
The team led by coach Mano Menezes bitter technical crisis and lost last weekend to the Sport lantern, which had not yet won in the championship.
Grêmio is close to the relegation zone of the national competition, and the management of President Alberto Guerra is challenged by the fans.
Images that circulate on social networks show the moment of attack on the bus this Saturday.
The attackers surround the vehicle, which is kicked, and shout toward the delegation. Meanwhile, security guards form a barrier to prevent the group from entering.
In a statement, Grêmio said it repudiates the case. “Aggressors accessed the private area of the airport, tried to break into the delegation bus and wounded a club worker in an unacceptable incident that attacks Grêmio and its huge crowd and hurts the values we value,” the statement says.
Also in a statement, the concessionaire that manages Salgado Filho, Fraport Brasil, said the incidents. The company, however, stated that the case occurred in a public, service area at the terminal.
“We repudiate any act of violence and are collaborating with public security authorities in investigating the facts,” Fraport said.
The Military Brigade, the Gaucha PM, said the bus was hit by a stone thrown by an unidentified fan. According to the corporation, the Civil Police works in the investigation.
According to Grêmio, the injured professional is security guard Luís Fernando Cardoso, Fernandão. He was attended at a health unit, took a crime body and registered a police report.
“The Grêmio board assures that it is taking all measures with the authorities to clarify the facts and will collaborate with investigations so that the attackers are punished in the rigor of the law,” says the club.
The note also states that, from the group identification, Grêmio will request support from its arena to ban the stadium what it called “would -be fans.”
If those involved are partners of the team, they will be tried according to Statute, the statement adds.
