The 7th Itacoatiara Big Wave (IBW), International Large Waves Championship, at Itacoatiara Beach, in will be held this Sunday (17), from 7am. It will be played in the Tow In modality, in which the athlete is towed to the wave by Jet Ski. Among the athletes invited to this edition are Pedro Scooby, Lucas Lead, Gabriel Sampaio, Michaela Fregonese and Michelle des Bouillons.

“Niterói has a natural vocation for sport, especially in modalities linked to sea and nature. Itacoatiara Big Wave consolidates the city as one of the main stages of the surfing of large waves in Brazil and worldwide. The event moves the economy, attracts visitors and reaffirms our commitment to sustainable development and the encouragement of sports as an instrument of inclusion and quality of life,” said Mayor of Niterói, Rodrigo Neves.

The athletes will compete for the competition in double, surfer and pilot, in the categories men’s teams and women-man teams. In the men’s category, athletes take turns between the board and the jet ski. In the woman-man category, the female performance on the waves will be at stake while it will be up to the partner to pilot the jet ski.
